Animal Walk Disappointment

WHen you hear that the circus is coming to town do you get a little excited? Nevermind the horror stories about the abuse of the animals please. Well I feel that the kids are a tad too young to really enjoy going to see the actual circus this year, maybe next, but I was excited to learn they were doing a free parade of animals when they came into town today! It was described as an aminal walk/parade starting at 10:30am in downtown so I dressed the kids nice and warm because it's chilly outside and we headed out! At first I was unsure of the route so we just parked where we always park when we come out to the big park and followed where other people were going and it ended up being a 3 block walk! Ladybug was unamused with me as I only brought the single stroller and she had to walk the whole way there, I kept promising her it was only a little further and kept lying. Finally we got to where it really was and found a nice spot and waiting while the wind blew colder air on us. Mister started getting mad that he was in the strller and couldn't walk around, I kept him in because he tends to wander and not listen to me calling his name-it's better for everybody that my son doesn't wander around aimlessly. Ladybug got cold and upset at that. Yet we waitied and waited 10:30am came and went....
FINALLY at 11am and two upset children later the animal walk started! Now I had told Ladybug what was going to happen I told her there would be elephants, lions, tigers, and who knows what else. I thought this was a parade of all the animals in the circus show... let's look at some pictures.
The start of the animal walk! Ladybug and Mister got so excited!

The end of the animal walk. seriously.

And so that eneded the animal walk, 5 elephants walked past us. We waited there along with everybody else wondering when more were coming but as the police started leaving we concluded it was over. I had to apologize to my sweet children for dragging them out in the cold, making them walk blocks, making them either stand next to me or sit in the stroller for 5 elephants and nothing more. They both started crying, and I felt crushed I hyped them up for that. So we walked back to the car, well I walked back to the car Ladybug had climbed into the bottom basket of the stroller and cried mumbling about tigers and no lions, Mister sat up front crying and crying. I walked them back to the car gave them hugs and drove us home. They both fell asleep in the car on the way home. When I carried Ladybug up to her room she cried for tigers and hotdogs, ya I know tigers and hotdogs? She is silly. Hopefully they won't be so upset when they wake up, if the circus wasnt sold out I would say we should go just because I feel guilty about today.
